Saskatchewan History & Folklore Society’s Legacy Fund

The Saskatchewan History & Folklore Society is pleased to announce a program, which the SHFS Board believes will have a long-lasting impact in the preservation of Saskatchewan’s social history.

The impetus for developing this program was the receipt of two bequests to SHFS. Although both of these bequests were given to the Society without any specific direction for the monies’ use, the Board of Directors saw an opportunity to develop a program through which monies received as bequests could be put to some specific plan, and thus the Legacy Fund was formed.

The Legacy Fund program will provide scholarships for post-secondary education at a Saskatchewan facility for the student’s study of western Canadian plains history.

All bequests that Saskatchewan History & Folklore Society receives, unless the will states otherwise, will be placed in the Legacy Fund. The interest earned from this fund will be distributed annually in the form of post-secondary scholarships.

The Saskatchewan History & Folklore Society hopes that our members will recognize the importance of providing a lasting legacy, which will assist in the education of our future historians, and thus see fit to provide a bequest to the Saskatchewan History & Folklore Society in their estates. Should you require further information on this important and far-reaching program, please do not hesitate to contact the office.

Our Awards program is currently under re-evaluation, and as such Legacy Fund bursaries are not being offered at the current time. Please check back in the future for updates!
